Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana recently had their hair done in preparation for their roles in “Star Trek 3.” The actors will play Spock and Uhura, respectively. They both shared photos on popular social media platforms.

Saldana shared this photo on her official Twitter account. The photo shows the actress getting her hair groomed and she confirmed in the tweet that this was being done to prepare her to film scenes as Uhura.

Quinto shared this photo on his Instagram account after getting his hair trimmed shorter for the role of Spock. “Someone is preparing to emerge,” he said in the post. He also shared this photo of his Vulcan-styled eyebrows. The actor also asked fans to support a crowd-funding campaign for a documentary being made about the late actor Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock in the original "Star Trek" TV series in the 1960s.

This will be the first movie in the recent reboot that will not include Nimoy. One possible cameo appearance could come from another veteran of the franchise, William Shatner as Captain Kirk. Simon Pegg, who will play Scotty and who is also one of the scriptwriters, told Digital Spy that Shatner was an “amazing actor,” but he did not comment on whether or not Shatner will appear in the new movie.

Pegg previously told Radio Times that the filming of the movie is set to begin in late June. The writers reportedly handed in a first draft of the script May 29.

The plot of the movie may be about the “five-year mission,” Quinto previously told Variety. The original TV series was about a five-year mission, in which Kirk famously said the crew would “boldly go where no man has gone before.” The forthcoming movie will mark the 50th anniversary of the franchise.

“Star Trek 3” is slated to be released July 8, 2016.Cast members include Chris Pine as Kirk, John Cho as Sulu, Karl Urban as Bones and Anton Yelchin as Chekov.
