Stock index futures added to gains after a brief dip on Thursday following the latest read on weekly initial claims for jobless benefits.

Claims rose by 1,000 to 427,000 in the latest week, above an expectation for 415,000.

S&P 500 futures rose 6.2 points and were above fair value, a formula that evaluates pricing by taking into account interest rates, dividends and time to expiration on the contract. Dow Jones industrial average futures added 34 points and Nasdaq 100 futures rose 4 points.

Stocks are coming off a six-day streak of losses.
