Stocks slightly added to losses on Wednesday as new home sales plunged to a record low in February.

Wall St had opened lower as concerns over debt issues in the euro zone, Japan's nuclear crisis and violence in the Middle East and North Africa persisted.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 22.90 points, or 0.19 percent, at 11,995.73. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 6.85 points, or 0.53 percent, at 1,286.92. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 13.26 points, or 0.49 percent, at 2,670.61.
