Stocks briefly pare gains after Fed decision

Stocks briefly cut gains on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve decided to leave interest rates unchanged.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 85.77 points, or 0.88 percent, at 9,857.68. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 7.76 points, or 0.74 percent, at 1,053.17. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 9.53 points, or 0.46 percent, at 2,066.85.
