U.S. stocks fell more than 1 percent shortly after the open on Thursday after a bearish analyst comment on semiconductor stocks pressured the technology sector, even as data showed no change in weekly jobless claims.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 101.05 points, or 0.97 percent, at 10,325.26. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 13.93 points, or 1.26 percent, at 1,095.87. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> declined 31.13 points, or 1.42 percent, at 2,162.01.
