U.S. stocks fell at the open on Tuesday, retreating from 13-month highs, as commodity prices eased on a stronger U.S. dollar and Dow component Home Depot Inc said its markets were under pressure.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 23.73 points, or 0.23 percent, to 10,383.23. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 3.67 points, or 0.33 percent, to 1,105.63. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> lost 7.51 points, or 0.34 percent, to 2,190.34.
