U.S. stocks rose at the open on Wednesday after a private-sector employment report showed improvement from October but fell shy of forecasts.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 10.43 points, or 0.10 percent, at 10,461.15. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 0.55 points, or 0.05 percent, at 1,108.31. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 3.29 points, or 0.15 percent, at 2,179.10
