U.S. stocks rose on Monday after data indicated the U.S. manufacturing sector grew more than expected, offsetting weaker-than-forecast construction spending.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 58.04 points, or 0.58 percent, at 10,125.37. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 7.15 points, or 0.67 percent, at 1,081.02. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> added 9.39 points, or 0.44 percent, at 2,156.74.
