Eph (Corey Stoll, left) pictured here with his partner Nora (Mia Maestro), will head to Washington DC in "The Strain" episode 5 to show his findings of a new infection that can stop the strigoi. FX

Nothing on “The Strain” has been easy, which makes the episode 5's title, “Quick and Painless,” an interesting one. Eph (Corey Stoll) will be preparing to make his way to Washington DC after discovering that his and Nora’s (Mia Maestro) "infect the infected" experiment worked, giving everyone a valuable weapon in the fight against the strigoi.

When Eph heads for Washington DC, he will leave Zach (Max Charles) in the hands of a reluctant Nora, who will have to play the role as parent in Eph’s absence. However, Kelly (Natalie Brown), Zach’s real mother turned monster, isn’t far behind with her army of feelers. It’s only a matter of time before the two once again meet.

With Eph leaving, the team will already be short one member -- not to mention Fet (Kevin Durand), who was taken to jail in episode 4 after blowing up the red hook subway tunnel in Brooklyn to cut off one of the strigoi’s main routes of travel. While in the tunnel he ran into members of Councilwoman Feraldo’s (Samantha Mathis) task force, who arrested him on the spot. In episode 5, Nora and Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas) will have to negotiate with Feraldo to get Fet out of jail.

Setrakian (David Bradley) continues his hunt for the Occido Lumen, the book that could help defeat the Master and the strigoi. After receiving an offer to join Setrakian’s team, could this be the week Mr. Fitzwilliam (Roger R. Cross), Eldritch Palmer’s (Jonathan Hyde) former head of security, joins the fight to undo the damage Palmer caused?

In episode 4, we met Angel Guzman Hurtado (Joaquín Cosio), an old lucha libre wrestler known as “The Silver Angel.” Gus recognized him when they met, but Angel denied his identity and shrugged Gus off. However, it’s only a matter of time before these two team up in the fight for humanity.

With Eph and his team making a lot of progress in the fight against the strigoi, it will be interesting to see what Palmer and Bolivar have up their sleeves next -- especially after the attack on the Financial Reserve.

"The Strain" Season 2, episode 5 will air on FX on Sunday, Aug. 9 at 10 p.m. EDT.
