Sun Microsystems said on Wednesday at Oracle's Openworld that it has entered a distribution agreement with Dell, for its Solaris operating system.

In his keynote address, Jonathan Schwartz, Sun's President and CEO, revealed that it's Solaris operating system will be distributed to all of its customers through the firm's partnership with Dell.

Through our partnership with Dell, we will be able to offer customer driven services to our customers, said Schwartz. Sun and Dell will work closely to ensure that we get support from Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) for Solaris on Dell PowerEdge servers.

Many Sun customers who may need help can receive assistance by either calling Sun or Dell for answers.

Dell also expressed its commitment to boosting the distribution of Solaris by revealing that it will add Solaris OS to its solutions.
