Super Bowl LI will be played at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Feb. 5, 2017. This will be the second Super Bowl to be held at the stadium.

The city also hosted the championship game during Super Bowl VIII at Rice Stadium in 1974.

The 51st Super Bowl will have a match between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons. As the Super Bowl is just around the corner, here is a list of the upcoming events in chronological order:

  • The NFL Experience will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center from Feb. 1-5, with the Vince Lombardi Trophy on display. Tickets start at $25 for children and $35 for adults.
  • Super Bowl Live at Discovery Green started Jan. 28 and will continue until Feb. 5. This is a free nine-day festival that includes music, food and performers by Solange Knowles, Robert Glasper and Lizzo on Feb. 2; Leon Bridges, Shakey Graves and Robert Ellis on Feb. 3; ZZ Top, Gary Clark Jr. and The Suffers on Feb. 4.
  • The Super Bowl LI Gala will be held on Feb. 1 at the Marriott Marquis at 7 p.m. to honor Houston Texans owner Bob McNair and his wife Janice.
  • The Lounge at Houston House will be in the Partnership Tower from Feb. 1-4.
  • The Texans House will be at The Grove near Discovery Green from Feb. 2-4.
  • Four nights of concerts and events will be conducted by the Tao Group at nightclubs Clé and Spire. The takeover runs from Feb. 2-4.
  • Club Nomadic will host events Feb. 2-4 at 2121 Edwards St. Concerts that will feature the Chainsmokers with Sam Hunt on Feb. 2, Bruno Mars on Feb. 3 and Taylor Swift on Feb. 4.
  • The Bulls and Blackjack Party on Feb. 2 at a private home in River Oaks from 6 to 10 p.m.
  • The Off the Field Players' Wives Fashion Show will be held at Tootsies on Feb. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • ESPN is hosting its ESPN The Party on Feb. 3 at the Arts District outside downtown Houston. The event will feature DJ Khaled and Fergie.
  • Just the Truth party on Feb. 3 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Hotel ZaZa will feature former NFL player Greg Briggs and other celebrities such as Eric Benét and LisaRaye McCoy.
  • The Taste of the NFL will be at the University of Houston on Feb. 4 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • The 30th annual Athletes in Action Super Bowl Breakfast will be held at the Marriott Marquis with CBS sportscaster James Brown on Feb. 4.
  • The Giving Back Fund will host its Big Game Big Give charity event on Feb. 4 from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
  • Rolling Stone Live will be held Feb. 4 at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and will include performances by Diplo and Nas.
  • Undisputed party on Feb. 4 from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. at the Ayva Center at 9371 Richmond Ave will feature Lil Wayne.
  • Super Bowl LI will be held Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m. at NRG Stadium with performances by country star Luke Bryan and Lady Gaga.

Meanwhile, organizers said that those planning to get their vehicles for the event should leave it near one of the many parking lots along Houston's Metro Rail and take public transit into the city. Security screening at NRG Stadium will be significantly heightened for Super Bowl LI because of which fans should avoid carrying the following the items, according to the NFL website.

  • Alcohol (unless purchased at an NFL venue)
  • Animals (except assistive animals)
  • Banners, signs (any object that obstructs the view of others)
  • Beach balls
  • Beverage (unless purchase at an NFL venue)
  • Camcorders
  • Containers of any type (aerosol cans, coolers of any size, bottles)
  • Drones
  • Food (unless purchased at an NFL venue)
  • Footballs
  • Fireworks
  • Frisbees
  • Illegal substances
  • Laptop computers
  • Laser lights and pointers
  • Mace / pepper spray
  • Motorized scooters and skateboards
  • Noisemakers and horns
  • Poles, sticks, missile like objects of any kind
