Entering the final six-game stretch of the regular season, Las Vegas odds makers currently predict the New England Patriots to beat the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl 50.

The AFC’s undefeated Patriots (10-0) are considered the heavy betting favorite at 12/5 odds to beat the NFC’s Arizona Cardinals (8-2) when the NFL’s championship game takes place Sunday, Feb. 7 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Last month, quarterback Tom Brady and the Patriots were one of six undefeated teams vying for Super Bowl contender status, but they were viewed as 7/2 underdogs to the then-undefeated Green Bay Packers 3/1 chances.

Now the Patriots join the Carolina Panthers (10-0) as the league’s only perfect squads heading into Week 12, with Carolina rising from 30/1 to 7/1, just behind the Cardinals.

The Patriots have dealt with myriad injuries this season, sending 13 players to injured reserve, but odds makers have pegged them to be the first repeat champion in more than 10 years. The last team to win two straight? The Patriots.

Winners of four straight and maintaining a three-game NFC West lead over two-time defending conference champion Seattle, Arizona cut its odds in half from 10/1 to 5/1 over the last month.

Odds makers are clearly reflecting the current MVP race with Brady considered just ahead of Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer and Carolina’s Cam Newton, but Aaron Rodgers and the Packers (7-3) remain a looming threat to every other contender.

Mired with injuries to many of their top skill players, including Rodgers, the Packers experienced a three-game losing streak this month and slipped to 8/1 odds to win their first Super Bowl since the 2010 season. However, Green Bay came up with a huge win over their NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings in Week 11 for first place in the division and look to tighten their grip on Thanksgiving night against the Chicago Bears.

The Panthers and their fans may view their chances as a slight from odds makers, but Newton and company can silence any critics and improve their odds with a Thanksgiving victory at the Dallas Cowboys and stand to leapfrog the Cardinals if they slip up.

Carolina’s looking to build off last year’s trip to the NFC Divisional round after claiming its first postseason victory in nine years.
