Justin Bieber may have just been named Top Male Artist at Sunday’s 2013 Billboard Awards, but not everybody is happy with the 19-year-old pop star. Not only was Bieber mercilessly booed while onstage, but when fellow pop sensation Taylor Swift caught a glimpse of him getting a backstage kiss from Selena Gomez, her disgusted reaction quickly went viral.
First, some background. Bieber and Gomez have been an on-again-off-again couple for a while now, and celebrity commentators were almost positive that Sunday’s Billboard awards would see the two sitting next to each other and getting back together. Instead, they sat apart, and millions of Bieber fangirls breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Later on, in a backstage video, Bieber and Gomez were seen hugging as Taylor Swift walked by. Bieber appeared to be going in for a kiss on the lips, when Gomez turned aside and kissed him on the cheek instead. Swift was walking nearby and stuck out her tongue at the sight, a disgusted reaction that quickly went viral.

As for Bieber being booed at the Billboard Awards ceremony, the singer won Top Male Artist, Top Social Artist and a Milestone Award, but fans seemed underwhelmed: As Bieber took the stage, he was booed by most of the Billboard audience. He tried to save face by stating that he was a real artist who deserves respect.
“I'm 19 years old. I think I’m doing a pretty good job,” Bieber said. “And basically from my heart I really just want to say it should really be about the music. It should be about the craft, the craft that I’m making. This is not a gimmick. … I’m an artist and I should be taken seriously. And all this other bull should not be spoken of,” he added, referring to recent incidents that put him in the headlines.
