Seeking their first win over a ranked opponent since 2010, the Mississippi State Bulldogs must find a way to contain quarterback Johnny Manziel and the Texax A&M Aggies Saturday afternoon at Davis Wade Stadium.

The No. 16 Aggies and redshirt freshman Manziel regained their winning form last week after steamrolling Auburn 63-21.

Manziel threw two touchdowns, and ran for another three, as A&M raced out to a 41-0 halftime lead. Receiver Ryan Swope also tallied six receptions for 140 yards and two scores.

Boasting the third ranked offense in the country, the Aggies gained 671 total yards, the fourth time this season that they’ve netted more than 600 yards.

Manziel is the main reason for A&M’s prolific offense. The redshirt freshman rushes for an SEC-leading 99 yards per game, and has thrown 16 touchdowns and ran for another 13 this season.

However the Aggies and Manziel have struggled against ranked teams this season, and toppling the Bulldogs would give them their second win over a ranked opponent this year.

No. 17 Mississippi State saw their undefeated mark fall last week as they ran into top ranked Alabama and lost 38-7. It was the fewest points the Bulldogs scored in a game this year, and quarterback Tyler Russell failed to throw a touchdown for just the second time this season

Russell finished 15-for-30 for 169 yards, and receiver Chris Smith snagged three receptions for 73 yards.

The Bulldogs got within field goal range on their first possession, but were forced to punt on their next six straight possessions.

Like every team that’s faced Alabama this year, Mississippi State and their 15 th ranked defense failed to stop the run, giving up 179 rushing yards.

The Bulldogs are now in the middle of their toughest stretch of the season. After the Aggies on Saturday, Mississippi State heads to Death Valley to take on the LSU Tigers.

The game begins at 12 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast on ESPN or you can watch their live stream online at Watch ESPN here by submitting your cable provider information.
