“Thor: Ragnarok” star Tom Hiddleston has done a fantastic job playing the villainous Loki in three movies already: “Thor” in 2011, “The Avengers” in 2013 and “Thor: The Dark World” in 2013.

He will be reprising the role again in Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Ragnarok,” but sadly, Hiddleston told USA Today that the character might be played by some other actor in the future. “I cannot play Loki forever, it’s not possible,” said Hiddleston, who just turned 36 last month. “Loki is immortal and I’m deeply mortal.”

Hiddleston said Marvel might have to conclude Loki’s storyline eventually or replace him as the villain. “Regeneration, at some point, will be required, I’m not quite sure when,” he said.

For now, Hiddleston said there’s a great storyline in “Ragnarok” between his character and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. However, Hiddleston said Loki actually looks down on Strange. “I think he probably dismisses Strange,” Hiddleston said about Loki. “Yes, his sorcery is very impressive, but Loki’s been doing that for [a] century so who cares? But Hela (Cate Blanchett) is a different beast and full of surprises. [She] actually might have been someone with whom he actually got along, but the circumstances have changed,” he told IGN.

Due to Hela’s power, Hiddleston told Comic Book that the “stakes are raised” as far as villainous characters are concerned. Loki would have no choice but to team up with his half-brother and nemesis Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in order to save Asgard from destruction.

“It’s the kind of destruction that both Thor and Loki have never seen, on a scale of terror they’ve never ever seen before. So, they fall back on their brotherhood fractured though it is to see what they can do to stop her,” he said.

“Thor: Ragnarok” will be released on Nov. 3.
