Former Husker football player, Thunder Collins, was Thursday sentenced to life in prison for first degree murder, the Associated Press reported.

Collins was convicted in the death of Timothy Thomas and injured another in September 2008 during a botched drug deal.

The Douglas County District Court judge in addition to the life imprisonment gave Collins a further 110 years on other counts including attempted second-degree murder, assault and two weapons charges.

Collins' attorney intends to appeal the sentence.
