New York-based Tiffany & Co. on Thursday announced the opening of a 360-square-meter store in Barcelona's Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

The new store is Tiffany's second in Spain, following the fall 2008 opening of a store in Madrid.

Tiffany is achieving strong growth throughout Europe, and there is substantial long-term expansion potential. We are very optimistic about our prospects in Barcelona. Opening in this prominent location provides us with the ideal environment for introducing everyone in this elegant and cosmopolitan city to Tiffany's heritage of design, craftsmanship and outstanding service, said Melvyn Kirtley, group vice president, Tiffany & Co. Europe in a statement.

Constructed on multiple levels that overlook the hotel's gracious courtyard, the store features custom furnishings, leather panels and cerused oak in various shades of blue.

The new showroom showcases exclusive collections from the company including their heritage range as well as collections from renowned designers like Jean Schlumberger, Paloma Picasso and Frank Gehry.
