Although he hasn’t been much of a factor for the New York Jets so far this season, Tim Tebow is again the talk of New York because of his appearance in an upcoming photo spread in Vogue magazine. Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz shot the pictures of Tebow for the article.

In one picture, a shirtless Tebow is shown pushing a giant tire through a deep ravine. In a behind-the- scenes video of the shoot (which you can watch by clicking here) the backup quarterback poses in a sports coat while playing catch with a football.

“This 25-year-old devout Christian heartthrob has palpable charisma, a radiant magnetism that
one of his fellow evangelicals might call a halo,” wrote Taylor Antrim in the piece, which is titled “Superman Returns: Tim Tebow Touches Down in New York.”

Earlier this season Tebow irked many fans after a practice when he stripped off his shirt and ran through the rain right in front of the media on hand. Tebow has been criticized for putting the amount of attention he gets over his team’s success, one reason football writers cited for the trade that sent Tebow to the Jets from the Denver Broncos.

This news comes after Tebow told ESPN that running for public office might be in his future after his time in the NFL.

“I haven’t ruled it out,” Tebow told Rich Cimini. “Whatever avenue I feel like I can make a difference in, I’d love to do. I haven’t ruled out anything like that. It won’t be anytime soon in my future, but it’ll be something I’ll at least look at and consider one day.”

Tebow, who is a devout Christian, has been enormously popular since becoming one of the most successful quarterbacks to ever play college football. His playing time in the pros has faded, but his religion and the controversies that have surrounded him have reguklarly kept Tebow in headlines beyond the sports page.
