Tim Tebow Trade Rumors: Does Arizona Visit Mean Cardinals Want The Jets Quarterback?

The backup quarterback was underutilized in his first season with the team. He threw just eight passes and ran the ball 39 times for 102 yards in 2012. Even when Mark Sanchez was benched, Greg McElroy was given the start.

With the Jets having no apparent use for Tebow, they may try to trade him in the offseason. There have been rumors about the organization looking to move him to the Jacksonville Jaguars, though general manager Dave Caldwell recently stated that he couldn’t “imagine a scenario” in which the club would acquire Tebow.

Now, new rumors have emerged about what team Tebow will play for next year.

TMZ spotted the signal caller in Arizona on Monday, training at an Arizona community college. The entertainment news outlet snapped pictures of Tebow working out with a trainer at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix.

There have been no reports of Tebow meeting with any officials from the Arizona Cardinals, but the news has led to speculation that the organization could be interested in acquiring the quarterback.

The Cardinals are one of a few teams that might be able to use Tebow’s services.

Arizona was a mess at the quarterback position in 2012. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt started four different quarterbacks, none of whom achieved any long-term success. Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer combined to throw just 11 touchdown passes and 21 interceptions.

Matt Barkley will likely be the first quarterback drafted in April, but he isn’t considered a "sure thing" like Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III. Arizona wouldn’t have to give up much to acquire Tebow, and could have him compete for the starting job next season.

If New York can’t find a taker for Tebow, they may choose to release him and make the former Heisman Trophy winner a free agent.
