Evangelist Tony Alamo was on Friday sentenced to 175 years in prison for taking underage girls across the state for sex.

Alamo, 75, was in July convicted on a 10 count federal indictment. He took five girls as brides in crimes that took place over a period of 10 years.

According to district judge Harry F. Barnes said Alamo used his status as a father figure and pastor to threaten the girls with the loss of their salvation.
