The Tour de France 2011 Stage 15 takes the peloton from Limoux to Montpellier, across 193 km. It is a relatively flat stage after three days in the Pyrenees mountains.

Sprint teams will likely contest the finish which is on flat wide roads in the town of Montpellier.

However, the intermediate sprint occurs at 46.5 km from the finish, so the sprint teams may try to catch any early breakaways by that mark, and then hold off any late breakaways.

Mark Cavendish of HTC is the current green jersey points leader and he will want to fight to keep the jersey and win the stage. Cavendish has already won three stages at this year's Tour.

There is only one categorized climb in Stage 15, the Cote de Villespassans which summits at the 111 km to go mark and reaches 4.6% gradients.

It will be a relatively easy climb for yellow jersey holder Thomas Voeckler and his Europcar team to cross over.

In fact, the stage should pose no problems for Voeckler in maintaining the yellow jersey, as the Tour goes into the second rest day on Monday.

Voeckler maintains approximately a two minute lead over the other GC contenders including Frank and Andy Schleck, Cadel Evans, Ivan Basso, and Alberto Contador.
