It may not be the highly anticipated “Toy Story 4,” but fans of the Pixar series will be pleased to know that “Toy Story of Terror” will be coming to a TV screen near you Oct. 16 -- just in time for Halloween! ABC announced Friday that the half-hour special will be shown at 8 p.m. EDT, and even dished on what haunting tale viewers can expect.

ABC released the following synopsis: “What starts out as a fun road trip for the ‘Toy Story’ gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in this ‘Toy Story of Terror!”

Many original cast members will be lending their voice to the special, including Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz), Don Rickles (Mr. Potato Head), Wallace Shawn (Rex) and Joan Cusack (Jessie). Dread Central reported that third-installment “Toy Story” cast members Timothy Dalton (Mr. Pricklepants) and Kristen Schaal (Trixie), who were part of “Bonnie’s toys,” will also be featured. Another surprising addition? Carl Weathers, who will be voicing Combat Carl -- a toy who appeared in the original “Toy Story” and was blown up by devil child next door, Sid.

The first 10 minutes of the Halloween special was screened at D23 over the weekend and /Film shared its recap of the footage. According to the site, the special begins in black-and-white with humans running from Dracula in a graveyard. The toys are actually watching a movie in the back of the car, but their film is interrupted when a flat tire causes the family to pull into a motel.

Exploring on their own later that night, the toys split into small groups -- and Mr. Potato Head goes missing. From there on out, the toys investigate the disappearance of their comrade while encountering “typical horror movie stuff.”
