Tropical Storm Danny which formed at the east of the Bahamas yesterday has grown in strength as its winds reached 60 miles per hour compared to 45 mph on Wednesday, the National Hurricane Center reported today.

The storm which is expected to become a hurricane, continued to move slowly northwest. It will remain southeast of Bermuda and northeast of the Bahamas, AccuWeather.com said Thursday. Danny is still expected to impact New England and North Carolina late Friday.

As Danny moves over an area with increasingly warm waters and lighter wind shear later today, he is expected to increase in strength, and may reach hurricane strength by the early part of the weekend, the site said today.

Danny will become a hurricane when its winds hit the 74 mph mark.
