The Las Vegas police officer who held a mortally wounded Tupac Shukar in the immediate aftermath of a fatal drive-by shooting claims that he heard the rapper’s last words.

In an interview with VegasSeven.com, former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer Chris Carroll broke his silence nearly 18 years after Shakur was gunned down by an unknown assailant. Carroll claims that he repeatedly asked the rapper to reveal the identity of his assassin.

Rather than reveal who had shot him, Shakur used his last words to make a pointed statement to Carroll. “He looked at me and he took a break to get the words out, and he opened his mouth, and I thought I was actually going to get some cooperation,” Carroll said. “And then the words came out: ‘F--- You.”

“After that, he started gurgling and slipping out of consciousness. At that point, an ambulance showed up, and he went into unconsciousness,” Carroll added.

Shakur remained on life support at a local hospital, but died from several gunshot wounds on Sept. 7, 1996. The identity of the man who shot and killed Shakur remains a mystery to this day.
