Two unidentified women were found dead near a Tallahassee, Fla., golf course on Tuesday afternoon.

According to local ABC affiliate WTXL, golfers at the Hilaman course heard several gunshots ring out around 5 p.m. EDT. Upon investigating the gunshots, they found the bodies of two women outside a nearby apartment complex. The golfers quickly called the police and waited for them to arrive on scene.

Leon County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. James McQuaig confirmed the news with the Associated Press. “They made the discovery,” McQuaig said. “They called 911 and they waited for us to get there.”

According to McQuaig, the golfers found the two bodies in an open grassy area separating the apartment complex from the nearby golf course. Several other apartment complexes surround the Hilaman Golf Course.

When asked about the identities of the two women, McQuaig could not release their identities and was not sure of their exact ages. He did state that autopsies were scheduled for Wednesday and that the Leon County Sherriff’s Office will continue to search the scene.
