UFC 214: Jones vs. Cormier Betting Odds, Start Time, How To Watch

The last six months haven't featured much in the way of exciting UFC pay-per-views, but that should change Saturday night at Honda Center in Anaheim, California. UFC 214 will have three title fights on the main card, and the betting odds indicate that the pay-per-view will produce two new champions.

Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier will headline the main card, which starts at 10 p.m. EDT, in a rematch of their light heavyweight championship fight from two years ago. The men’s welterweight and women’s featherweight championships will also be defended in two highly anticipated fights. UFC 214 costs $69.99 to purchase in HD on PPV, though fans can watch it for $59.99 with a live stream online.

Even though Jones retained his belt with a unanimous decision victory over Cormier at UFC 182, the two fighters have unfinished business. Jones was stripped of his title on April 28, 2015 because of his involvement in a hit-and-run incident, allowing Cormier to become the face of the 205-pound division since then.

Cormier won the vacant title against Anthony Johnson less than a month after Jones dropped the championship, and he defeated Alexander Gustafsson on Oct. 3 of that year. He was supposed to defend the belt against Jones on two occasions in 2016, but both fights were canceled.

The champ was unable to compete at UFC 197 on April 23, 2016, so Jones instead faced Ovince Saint Preux, his only fight in the last two and a half years. Jones vs. Cormier II was pulled from the UFC 200 card just days before the July 9, 2016 PPV, when Jones failed a test for performance-enhancing drugs and was subsequently suspended for a year.

Despite Cormier’s four wins to Jones’ one since the fighters last met, Jones is heavily favored to win back his title. With the only loss on his resume coming via disqualification, Jones might be the greatest fighter in MMA history. All 22 of his victories have been the result of a submission, knockout or unanimous decision by the judges.

Jones, however, isn’t the biggest UFC 214 favorite that will be challenging for a championship. That honor belongs to Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, who is considered to be a near lock to win her 145-pound title fight against Tonya Evinger. They will fight for the now-vacant title, which was stripped from Germaine de Randamie when she refused to defend her belt against Cyborg.

Tyron Woodley is favored to keep his UFC welterweight championship. He’ll put the 170-pound title on the line against Demian Maia, who is on a seven-fight winning streak, most recently beating Jorge Masvidal in May. Both of Woodley’s successful championship defenses came against Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.
