  • Dana White is unsure if Conor McGregor still has the competitive fire
  • The UFC president believes McGregor's lavish lifestyle dampened his "hunger."
  • McGregor is keen to redeem himself by fighting again

For many fans of mixed martial arts, the unthinkable happened over the weekend at UFC 257 as Conor McGregor lost to Dustin Poirier via a second-round knockout.

UFC president Dana White is unsure of the impact the loss will have on McGregor and has questioned the former two-division champion’s hunger to reclaim his position as one of the top fighters in the stacked lightweight division.

The company head honcho suggested that McGregor's lavish lifestyle makes it difficult for him to turn on his warrior's instinct before comparing the renowned fighter&s predicament to a storyline in the movie "Rocky III" starred by Sylvester Stallone.

“Look, there are two ways this goes--hungrier or I'm done, he's got the money," White said in the post-fight press conference, as quoted on Give Me Sport. "This is like Rocky III when you get offered a 300-foot yacht, it is tough to be a savage when he is living like he is.”

"When he was a young kid, he was hungry. Now he has got everything he ever wanted, so I don't know [if] it goes this way or that way," he added.

“The Notorious” was the overwhelming favorite going into the fight, especially since he had already beaten the American via a technical knockout when they first faced each other in 2014.

During fight week, the media's attention was on McGregor, highlighting the Irishman’s future in the UFC and a potential rematch with arch-nemesis Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Poirier, however, showed that the pre-fight hype was no distraction to him as he pulled off a come-from-behind performance to defeat McGregor and put himself within touching distance of a potential shot at the lightweight title.

McGregor, however, is not ready to throw in the towel yet and has indicated that he will be back in action.

But it remains to be seen if it is going to happen inside the Octagon or in the boxing ring--with a potential fight with Manny Pacquiao being lined up.
