A Ukrainian Muslim girl was stoned to death for apparently taking part in a beauty pageant, according to media reports. The 19-year-old girl, Katya Koren, was killed by three youths who believed she deserved death sentence under the Muslim Sharia law.

The girl was from Crimea region of the country. Her badly bruised body was found in a village a week after her disappearance, according to Britain's Daily Mail.

One of the murderers, a 16-year-old boy, has been arrested, according to the police. The unrepentant assailant justified the killing. According to him, Koren, who loved to wear fashionable dresses, had violated the Sharia law.

The world is used to hearing gruesome stories of judicial stoning of women in Iran, but the latest news indicates the barbaric practice is finding firm adherents in other parts of the world as well.
