United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) aims to sell its power generation assets for about $1 billion, Reuters reported Monday. No potential buyer was identified.

Pratt & Whitney Power Systems, a United Tech subsidiary, makes industrial gas turbines and geothermal power systems based on Pratt & Whitney's aircraft engine technology. It also helps generate electricity for businesses and cities.

Numerous media outlets have reported recently that Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies is seeking to raise about $1 billion to help pay for its purchase of aerospace parts manufacturer Goodrich Corp. (NYSE: GR).
