Damar Hamlin remains in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to an update provided by the Buffalo Bills at 1:23 p.m. ET Tuesday. The 24-year-old safety has been in intensive care since last night after he suffered cardiac arrest in Monday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Following a tackle on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins in the first quarter, Hamlin fell to the ground. CPR was administered on the field to Hamlin, who was placed into an ambulance that left the stadium at around 9:25 p.m. ET, about a half hour after Hamlin collapsed. It took close to 90 minutes for the league to officially postpone the game.

The Bengals led the Bills 7-3 with around nine minutes left in the first quarter at the time of the suspension. The NFL announced Tuesday that the game would not be resumed this week. The league didn't rule out the possibility of finishing the game this weekend and altering the upcoming schedule.

"No decision has been made regarding the possible resumption of the game at a later date and we have not announced any changes to this weekend's schedule," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a memo. "We will promptly advise all clubs of any decisions that are made regarding these matters."

Shortly before the Bills provided an update on Hamlin's health, the player's family released a statement thanking the first responders who resuscitated him on the field and those who have supported Hamlin. The statement also acknowledged the millions of dollars in donations that have been pledged to Hamlin's foundation within the last day.

"On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country," the family said in a statement released Tuesday morning.

"We also want to acknowledge the dedicated first responders and healthcare professionals at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center who have provided exceptional care to Damar. We feel so blessed to be part of the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support. We also want to thank Coach Taylor and the Bengals for everything they've done. Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us. Please keep Damar in your prayers. We will release updates as soon as we have them."

Monday's Week 17 matchup in Cincinnati was supposed to play a key role in determining the AFC's No. 1 seed. Both the Bills and Bengals have clinched a playoff berth and are looking to earn a first-round bye.
