The dollar made up some losses against the yen on Thursday after a report showed the number of U.S. workers filing new claims for jobless benefits fell more than expected last week to a 10-month low.

The dollar last traded 0.1 percent lower at 90.57 yen JPY=, compared with 90.38 yen before the data.

The euro rose to $1.4878 EUR=, little changed on the day, from $1.4866 earlier.
