US Jobless Benefit Claims Rise More Than Expected

First-time claims for unemployment benefits rose more than expected in the U.S. last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Applications for jobless benefits jumped by 6,000 to 386,000. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg News expected a decline in applications to 375,000.
