Marriage apparently suits Ian Somerhalder, as the actor can't stop gushing about how happy he is after tying the knot with Nikki Reed last month. “The Vampire Diaries” actor called his married life "amazing" and "great" in a recent interview.

"It's the best time I've ever had," Somerhalder told E! Online. The 36-year-old proudly showed off his “incredible” engagement ring and revealed that Reed designed it. The actor spoke at a recent party given to him by the CW TV network, where the entire cast of "TVD" gathered. The actor called the gesture by CW “really sweet.”

Somerhalder revealed that he has had a busy life after getting hitched but the couple managed to take some time off for their honeymoon in South and Central America. Reed and Somerhalder, who were married April 26 in Malibu, California, posted several honeymoon photos on their Instagram account, where they are seen having good times in Mexico, Brazil and Costa Rica.

One photo is from their Costa Rica rainforest trip. It shows a shirtless Somerhalder riding on a boat with Reed. “Thank you to this beautiful woman who makes every day a dream come true. Pura Vida,” Somerhalder captioned the photo.

Somerhalder also talked about ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev. The actor said his character, Damon Salvatore, and Dobrev's Elena Gilbert are the most "epic" couple of all time. Dobrev announced her exit from "TVD" some time back but Somerhalder will remain on the series.

Dobrev recently talked about her relationship with Somerhalder in another E! Online interview. The actress said she and Somerhalder did not break up because “anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship.” The 26-year-old actress said that she was friends with Somerhalder before they dated and their friendship is still intact. Dobrev said the marriage of Somerhalder and Reed is “beautiful” and she does not have any problem with it.
