Gran Colombia Gold Corp. said Wednesday one of its exploratory drilling sites was attacked by vandals who caused considerable damage to various buildings.

No one was injured in the assault against the Mazamorras exploration camp, and the Toronto-based company is evaluating the extent of the damage and the effect it'll have on the exploratory drilling at the site.

The incident hasn't affected production at the company's properties in Segovia or Marmato, said Gran Colombia Gold, which also holds property in Venezuela and Mali.

Shares of Gran Colombia Gold fell 5.9 percent in early trading.
