Challenging the set doctrine that art and fashion are two unrelated creative disciplines, South African entrepreneur Vanessa Gounden launched a new label called Vanessa G on Thursday.

Boldly merging the traits of the two creative sections, the high-end luxury line is an assortment of designer womenswear and bespoke accessories.

With business interests spanning from healthcare and financial services to luxury and lifestyle, Vanessa Gounden is regarded as one of the most successful business woman in the mining sector of the African continent.

Although Vanessa G is the entrepreneur's first venture into the fashion arena, the label has attracted substantial attention within the industry.

Vogue UK has quoted Gounden as stating, I am a business woman, but I have always had a great love of fashion, and a passion for the arts. I wanted to question the egotistical view that art is art and fashion is fashion.

Her debut Spring-Summer 2011 collection has already been introduced during the launch night at London's Banqueting House.
