Vampire Diaries
Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice King) will have to work hard to stay together in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8. CW

Stefan and Caroline finally got back together at the end of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, but it won’t take long for someone to come between them again. Even without Valerie around, it seems there will still be a third wheel in their relationship in Season 8.

A manipulative woman will be introduced when the CW drama returns in October, and she’ll be a little too fond of Stefan (Paul Wesley). “She quickly takes a liking to Stefan,” TV Guide reports. “What this woman wants, she usually gets — even if she has to use questionable methods.”

The good news is that after leaving her life in Dallas for Stefan, Caroline (Candice King) is willing to fight for her relationship more than ever. Stefan is too, but he’ll still have to spend time with this shady new character. He is forced to try to please her without doing something that he’ll regret.

It certainly sounds like this new temptress could be Sybil, a role “The Vampire Diaries” was trying to cast last month. TVLine reported that the casting notice described her as “an immortal who uses her immeasurable power and influence to control other people, manipulating them into twisted games and tests for her own amusement and glorification.” Of course, it’s entirely possible that “TVD” will bring on two manipulative women in Season 8. After all, devious but sympathetic villains are their specialty.

There isn’t a particular reason given for why exactly Stefan has to be with this woman, but she must have something that he wants. Does she have answers about where Damon (Ian Somerhalder) disappeared to? The finale ended with Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) suddenly missing from the Armory and going on a killing spree. Damon is typically the reason Stefan puts himself in horrible situations, but fans will have to tune in to figure it out.

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 8 premieres Friday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
