“Veep” star Tony Hale has teased what his character Gary will focus on when the show airs its sixth season.

In an interview with The Wrap, the actor said Gary will still be very much involved in Selina's (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) business, even though she has already finished her stint at the White House. Hale also said that he knows that his character will panic at the thought of being laid off, but the desire to be at Selina's side will win him over.

“As long as he's in the bosom of Selina, he's a happy man,” the actor said. “He's been with her for her whole political career, before she was Vice President, even. That's his girl.”

While he's certain about where his character would want to be in the upcoming season, Hale said he's not exactly sure where his character would actually be. He did tease that the next installment will focus on the politician's life after being the president for a short while.

Series showrunner David Mandel teased during an interview with Bustle that Selina will have a bit of a meltdown when the show returns. The transition from being a high profile person to an ordinary civilian will take its toll on her. The character will also struggle a lot with trying to keep her relevance in the political world.

Mandel also confirmed that Gary and Selina will still be working together, but it will not be easy for Gary, especially since his boss will face new challenges.

“We've seen that she doesn't deal well with defeat and I think she's going to lose her quest for relevancy,” Mandel added.

The upcoming season is still in pre-production, Mandel told Forbes. Rehearsals for the series will start late September or early October.

“Veep” season 6 will air in spring 2017 on HBO.
