Despite the absence of some notable players such as Andres Iniesta, Barcelona was able to muster a strong attack led by Cesc Fabregas.

Barcelona remain undefeated as the former Arsenal star found Adriano in the 32nd-minute for the first goal and only goal of the first half.

In the second half, Tino Vilanova's squad received back-to-back goals from Lionel Messi. The first came off a penalty kick in the 74th minute, and the following score came just four minutes later as the Argentine knocked a left-footed shot by goalkeeper Miguel Moya from close range.

Barcelona defensive midfielder Javier Mascherano had an own goal in the 80th minute, to get Getafe on the board, and forward David Villa added the final goal of the match in the stoppage time.

As usual, Barcelona dominated ball possession, as the Catalans had the ball for two-thirds of the match. Getafe only managed six shots, with two on goal, while Barcelona took 15 shots, with nine on target.

Barcelona's next match is a home game in Champions League action, as they host Sparta Moscow on Wednesday. Getafe are idle until Saturday when they face Celta Vigo in La Liga play.
