Barcelona didn’t miss Lionel Messi for long.

Cesc Fabregas led the Catalans attack Saturday to a 5-0 victory over Real Mallorca at Camp Nou.

Fabregas netted three goals in the first 46 minutes of play, and all of Barcelona’s scores came inside the area against a Vermillion squad that appeared helpless throughout the match.

Messi suffered a knee injury against Paris Saint-Germain during Champions League play earlier this week, but should return to the Barcelona lineup soon.

Forward Alexis Sanchez stepped up with two goals of his own, and the Catalans dominated the ball with a 75 to 25 possession advantage.

It was the first La Liga goal for Fabregas since January against Malaga, and all told he has nine league goals this season.

Sanchez doubled his La Liga goal total for the year in his 12th appearance, and it was his first multi-goal game in league play since a year ago versus Getafe. The 24-year-old Chilean also earned his second yellow card in La Liga play this season in the 75th minute.
