Canelo Alvarez knocked out Amir Khan in the sixth round of Saturday’s fight in Las Vegas to retain his WBC middleweight title. It was an overhand right to Khan’s chin with 23 seconds remaining in the round that gave Alvarez the win.

Referee Kenny Bayless didn’t even give Khan a 10-second count, as the punch seemed to knock him out cold. The Brit was on the canvas for about a minute before he was able to get back on his feet.

Before the knockout, it had been a very exciting fight. Khan arguably won the first three rounds, and was in contention to pull off a major upset. But Alvarez was getting more comfortable as the fight moved along, and the champ finally landed one shot that ended it.
