Tottenham winger Gareth Bale fired off a stunning, miraculous goal Sunday in Spurs' 1-0 victory over Sunderland at White Hart Lane.

In the final match of the Premier League season, Bale moved the ball to center of the pitch, well away from the Sunderland area, and sailed a curling ball over the backline and into the net past goalkeeper Simon Mignolet in the 89th minute.

It was Bale’s 20th league goal of the season, more than doubling his career best.

Coming at an opportune time, the goal put tremendous pressure on Arsenal in their match against Newcastle, but the Gunners managed to pull out a late 1-0 victory. Tottenham ended the season in fifth place, one point out of Champions League qualification.

Nevertheless, the goal punctuated a breakout season for the 23-year-old Welshman. He finished third in the Premier League in goals and kept Spurs in the hunt until the very end.

Tottenham had tried diligently throughout the match to keep Arsenal on their toes, firing off 34 shots, with 14 on target, and dominated possession 68-32.
