AS Monaco superstar striker Radamel Falcao missed most of last term with a serious knee injury, and all eyes were on Emirates Stadium Sunday when the Colombian made the first start of his comeback in a friendly versus Arsenal.

The 28-year-old needed very little time to make in impact, scoring a glorious header that should give him and the rest of Leonardo Jardim’s side hope for the coming Ligue 1 term.

During a set piece in the 37th minute, midfielder Joao Mountinho launched a deep cross towards the Gunners net and right to Falcao, who was wide open for the 1-0 lead.

Falcao only made 17 appearances, scoring nine goals, during his first term with Monaco after leaving Atletico Madrid to the tune of £50 million. He was on pace to live up to that hefty transfer fee until the knee injury derailed the rest of the year and his World Cup hopes.

Nevertheless the goal is a positive sign for all involved, even if Real Madrid and former Monaco teammate James Rodriguez continue to chase Falcao in the transfer market.
