Stellar goals from Jese, Raphael Varane, and James Rodriguez overpowered Inter Milan and led to Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory in International Cup play Monday at Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou, China.

Rodriguez’s incredible free kick capped the day, while forward Jese put Madrid up for good in the 29th minute, and defender Varane padded the lead in the 56th, minutes after Rafa Benitez unloaded his bench.

Los Blancos largely controlled the match wire-to-wire, firing off six on-target shots to Inter’s three, and keepers Keylor Navas and Francisco Casilla registering three saves for Madrid.

Jese got on the board following Marcelo’s chipped through ball over Inter’s stunned back line inside the penalty area, and cut to his left for a strike to the bottom right corner.

Varane started the second half, filling in for Cristiano Ronaldo, and made the most of a broken play. Inter conceded a corner kick, but turned back a header attempt, before Madrid recovered. Midfielder Lucas Vasquez’s cross found Varane again in the heart of Inter’s area, and he tucked the ball inside the bottom left corner.

Rodriguez secured the final goal of the match by easily driving free kick over a hapless Inter wall, and into the top left corner past keeper Samir Handanovic in the 88th minute.

It’s the second straight victory for Madrid in the preseason tournament, a continuation of their 4-1 win over Manchester City and perhaps erasing the 7-6 penalty loss to AS Roma.

Los Blancos next face AC Milan on Thursday in Shanghai.
