A brace from Isco and Cristiano Ronaldo’s first goal of the season were enough to lift Real Madrid to a 3-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday in La Liga action.

It was the midfielder Isco’s second and third goals of the season, and Madrid remained undefeated early in the season. Overall, Carlo Ancelotti’s side fired of a barrage of 20 shots, with seven on target, to Athletic’s 12 shots and two on target.

Isco further increased the lead in the 72nd minute. Los Blancos slowly worked the ball up and around the Athletic back line, and Benzema earned his second assist of the match when he found Isco in at the top of the box for a shot to the bottom right corner.

Substitute forward Ibai Gomez came on in the 66th, scored Athletic’s only goal in the 79th off an assist from Markel Susaeta.

Athletic’s Carlos Gurpegui was issued a yellow in the 21st minute, and Madrid’s Sami Khedira was also booked in the 29th.
