Real Madrid gave up two one-goal leads, but still managed to keep Real Sociedad at bay and the match tied 3-3 Sunday at the Anoeta.

The tie leaves Sociedad one point shy of Champions League qualification, but they did overcome a 2-0 Madrid lead in the final 26 minutes to avoid a loss. Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Maria Callejon each scored for Los Blancos for the 2-0 lead, but a handball by Sami Khedira gave Sociedad a penalty kick, which Xabi Prieto converted, and started the late run.

Antoine Griezmann transformed Carlo Martinez’s cross to a left footed strike to the middle of the net in the 78 th minute, and Sociedad knotted the match a 2-2.

Khedira redeemed his mental mistake with goal in the 80th, but Sociedad kept up the pressure Prieto recorded brace three minutes into extra time.

The relentless Sociedad attack created chance after chance, with 27 shots and 12 on target. The onslaught tested Madrid keeper Diego Lopez who managed nine saves on the day.
