The real question is who didn’t score for Real Madrid. Los Blancos lit up visiting Rayo Vallecano with a flurry of goals for a 5-1 victory Saturday at the Bernabeu.

Gareth Bale began the onslaught in the ninth minute, and Sergio Ramos put Madrid up by two goals in the 40th and they would never look back. Rayo’s Alberto Bueno notched his squad’s only goal in the 44th.

In the second half, Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos would score four minutes apart thanks to two assists from Cristiano Ronaldo, who later recorded his 19th La Liga goal of the year in the 83rd minute to cap the day.

Madrid also remain undefeated on the year with a two point lead for first place in the league and keep Barcelona at bay following their comeback win over Almeria earlier in the day.

It wasn’t as if Rayo was devoid of opportunities. They racked up 15 shots with six on target, but Los Blancos keeper Keylor Navas totaled five saves on the day. Rayo’s Cristian Alvarez produced a valiant effort and made six saves.

Frustration eventually got the better of Rayo as well, with four yellows issued their way in the final 45 minutes.

Bale started things off by sliding into Kroos’s cross at close range in the ninth. Ramos got on the board in the 40 th with Pepe’s header cross following a corner kick. Kroos upped the lead to 3-1 with shot deep from midfield and a deft assist from Ronaldo.
