“The View” co-host Meghan McCain says that she’s tired of the way people talk about her and her co-stars and cites “sexism” as a major problem when it comes to how people criticize the show.

“I don’t think we’re treated fairly,” McCain said. “I never really cry ‘sexism’ that easily — I’m very hesitant to throw that around.”

According to Yahoo! Entertainment, McCain thinks that headlines don’t always paint her and her co-hosts in a positive light. McCain joined as a conservative co-host in 2017, allowing a voice for those viewers who don’t necessarily agree with the politics of its other hosts. With that said, when political debates light up, they’re sometimes headline-grabbing.

However, it has very little to do with politics, she feels. The debates between her and her liberal co-hosts are, according to her, perceived differently entirely because they are women. The TV personality says she’s tired of the stories that try to pin them against each other.

“‘Catfight,’ ‘ripped each other’s hair out,’ ‘scream-fest,’ ‘shrill,’” McCain described. “All these things that are used about women on television and in politics and in basically any industry.”

When discussing the fairly recent death of her father, Senator John McCain, she said: “People are very kind and people are very cruel. It’s one or the other.” McCain further expressed her frustration that people expect her to be over the death of her father by now and that she should stop talking about it on the air.

As The Washington Times reported, this isn’t McCain’s first time calling out sexism in the media. When discussing the women’s World Cup champions and their fourth win, McCain and her co-hosts made note of the pay disparity between women's and men’s soccer teams.

Ultimately, McCain expressed how much she enjoys being on “The View,” but wishes that people would give her and her co-hosts "a break."
