Virginia Tech officials report that a police officer and one other victim have been shot and killed on the school's campus as Virginia State Police search for the shooting suspect.

Virginia Tech has released a statement on the shooting, and university officials have launched a campus-wide lock down for students and faculty. Only four and a half years after the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, the school is rocked yet again by the horror of on-campus killings, and a shooter who is still on the loose.

As police officers and SWAT teams search the campus, Virginia Tech officials are preparing to launch a media briefing at 4:30pm, and many news stations are covering the campus live.
