“The Walking Dead” returned to AMC on Sunday, Oct. 12, with a bang -- literally, because Carol (Melissa McBride) blew up a gas tank at Terminus. Fans of the hit series were on the edge of their seats throughout the entire Season 5 premiere, and it doesn’t appear like that stance will be changing as the series moves into episode 2 on Oct. 19.

Last time we left off, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the others discovered that the folks at Terminus were indeed cannibals. Thanks to flashbacks, it was revealed that they had endured some hardships at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse; however, that was no excuse for turning other survivors into human beef jerky. While many people lost their lives in episode 1 -- including Terminus head chef Mary (Denise Crosby) -- Rick’s gang was able to escape the grounds with some minor scratches.

In the final moments of the premiere, “No Sanctuary,” the survivors were able to reunite with Carol, Tyreese ( Chad L. Coleman) and baby Judith, creating some sweet moments in an episode full of savage acts. But unfortunately the group has nowhere to go -- and limited supplies.

Episode 2 of Season 5 of “The Walking Dead” will explore that. According to the brief synopsis released by AMC, Rick will lead a “risky mission for a possible small reward when the supplies run low.” Could they possibly head back to Terminus to scavenge supplies? Or will the group return to one of their old overrun stomping grounds in an attempt to obtain supplies that were left behind? The latter wouldn’t be too far-fetched, especially since “Walking Dead” showrunner Scott Gimple teased during “The Talking Dead” that fans will be revisiting “new versions of old environments.”

The promo video for episode 2, “Strangers,” also reveals that a new character from Robert Kirkman’s comic books will be introduced -- Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam).

“You’re hiding something,” Rick says in the promo as the video shows him surveying the inside of a church. “What have you done?”

Episode 2 of “The Walking Dead” will air on AMC on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 9 p.m. EDT. Watch the teaser trailer below:
