Fans of the hit zombie apocalyptic series “The Walking Dead” will have several new characters to look forward to in the upcoming season. Two of these characters would be Negan and Paul “Jesus” Monroe, which showrunner Robert Kirkman has described as a “complete bada--.”

“The Walking Dead” season 6B may be one of the highly anticipated series to premiere in the first half of 2016. Many fans are excited to see Negan, to be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and his arrival in the upcoming season. However, another key character to join the series is “The Walking Dead’s” Jesus, to be played by Tom Payne. In the comic book series, Payne’s character is known for his fighting skills and is a key member of the Hilltop Colony. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator and showrunner Kirkman shared that Jesus was a “fun character to write” in “The Walking Dead” comic books.

“At this point in the life of the series, my thought is the apocalypse has been going on for so long, the people you encounter in your day-to-day life have to be extremely skilled,” he added. “And they’ve been surviving for a reason, whether they were at a place like Alexandria that’s very safe, or they’re a great leader of their group and somewhat sadistic but in control of their group like Negan, or someone who’s an absolute, complete bada-- like Jesus.”

Kirkman went on to describe Payne’s Jesus as a “smart,” “quick” and “very athletic” character. He also teased that the character will be bringing “a lot” to “The Walking Dead" series. Kirkman also teased that Jesus’ introduction to the hit AMC show will add “some really cool stuff” to “The Walking Dead.”

Meanwhile, in the first half of season 6, fans learned that “The Walking Dead” character Maggie was pregnant with Glenn’s child. Lauren Cohan, who portrays Maggie, recently told Celebuzz that she was excited that her character and Glenn (Steven Yeun) were going to have a baby. When asked whether it was smart to have Maggie become pregnant in a zombie ridden world, Cohan replied that it was a good idea despite their circumstances.

“Since the apocalypse is the only life that they have, I do think it’s a good idea. I think that they want to bring life into this world and in season 3, Maggie says to Glenn ‘We’re not, but if we would’ve been it’s ok, you can’t live your life in fear.’ You can’t avoid having the full experience that your body allows you to have, because of these zombies, basically. So yeah, I’m really excited for Maggie and Glenn to have a baby Magglenn.”

“The Walking Dead” season 6B returns on Feb. 14 on AMC.
